PRODUCT DESIGN
At MVT, our design philosophy is to engineer and build vacuum equipment suitable for power plants. Not ‘relabeled’ commercial grade units that are intended for general industrial use.
It starts with designs that are custom engineered for the specific type of power plant, considering the special requirements of that plant. For example, a combined cycle plant is often required to be ready to start up on very short notice, operate at partial loads depending on grid demand, and be flexible to respond to the demand at any time during the day or night. The condenser air removal system must be designed to meet these requirements, able to allow the condenser to operate on its thermal curve wherever the turbine load requires it to function.
There is no ‘standard’ vacuum system design that will handle those requirements. The era of the ‘one design fits all’ vacuum system of 50 years ago for base load thermal plants is long over!
QUALITY COMPONENTS
There has been a trend in the last 15+ years in the power industry where OEM’s have often selected lesser quality sub-components in the system designs due to competitive price pressure. This has resulted in power plant owners, developers, and A/E’s to frequently require ‘brand names’ in their specifications for system components, with the intent to insure all suppliers utilize quality components suitable for 30+ year product design life in the demanding 24/7 operation of power plants.
At MVT, we fully understand and agree with the intent of these requirements. ALL our sub-components, from motors to instrumentation, are manufactured by well-known suppliers in the power industry. We name them in our proposals, with pride. All our fabrications and welding are done to typical industry standards (ASME, ANSI, ASTM, TEMA, AWS, etc.), and verified through our ISO 9001 and ASME NQA-1 Quality Assurance Program.
Mercury is proud to source quality system components from proven suppliers in the Power industry:
- Vacuum Pumps – Italy/Taiwan
- Motors – USA/Mexico/Taiwan
- Heat Exchangers – USA
- Instrumentation – USA/Japan/EU
- Automated Valves – USA/EU
- Manual Valves – USA/Canada
- Fabrications – USA
The customer is assured of a premier quality vacuum system built to last for the life of the power plant. We back up our products with an industry leading 3 year standard warranty.
SERVICE AND SUPPORT
The ‘iron’ in the product is certainly important, but a premier vacuum system design goes beyond the hardware. All our systems are designed from the bottom up for today’s highly automated power plant, with built in diagnostic instrumentation that provides vital operational data through the plant DCS. This enables MVT engineers to quickly obtain information for diagnostics and quick feedback to plant personnel for operational assistance and troubleshooting of problems. Help is a phone call away!
MVT provides on-site service and support by qualified engineers when required. This includes installation inspection, start-up assistance, existing vacuum system surveys and diagnostics, troubleshooting, and of course warranty support.
